George Melies - 

Maries George Jean Melies or also known as George Melies was born in 1861 in Paris, France and at a young age had many different hobbies and interests such as stage design and puppetry. George was an illusionist and a filmmaker and was famous for many things such as leading many technical and narrative developing in the earliest days of filmmaking and cinema.

In 1884 requested by his parents George moved to live in London, England to learn English and to work at his father's footwear business. Becoming manager in his father's factory in 1888 George was able to raise enough money to open and manage his own business by opening up a the old famous theatre Robert Houdin.

George Melier was also associated with the first people who created cinema, The Lumiere Brothers. In December 28, 1895, George turned up at one of their movies as one of the audience members and was very intrigued with their and equipment and tried his hardest to buy the camera they used but got turned down.

During his career as a filmmaker, George made hundreds of movies that did not contain any sound, some were made by illustrated images shot a photo at a time - Also can be known as Animation.

George Melier eventually died in 1938 after making around five hundred films. He was mainly Financing, directing, photographing or starring in his films.

Lotte Reiniger

Lotte Reiniger or also known as Charlotte Reiniger was a foremost pioneer of silhouette animator, who worked for Walt Disney for other 10 years and made over 40 films over her careers, which were all her own creations. Lotte was born in Berlin and from a very early age showed an exceptional interest in cut free-handed paper silhouettes. She used her silhouettes in her home made shadow theater located at her home. Lotte is also known as a prime genius behind all of her films.



During Lotte's life, she was married to a man called Karl Koch from 1921 to 1963 when he died on December 1st. He was also in the film business with Reiniger and played a big part within her career as he help her out with various projects she had planned to work on, like The adventure of prime Achmed.

Lotte Reiniger made her very first movie in 1926 which was called 'The adventure of prime Achmed' which is a german animation fairytale is one of the oldest surviving animation in the world.

Coming to her Silhouette drawing's Lotte drawn all of them including the storyboards and even developed and created her own plots and characters.

In 1929, lotte had directed a live-action feature film named 'The pursuit of happiness' which had no volume till years later when they edited so it looks like people are talking by adding voice over the movement of the youths.

Also, in the early 1920s lotte fled back to England leaving her negatives with her.

Winsor McCay
Winsor McCay was born on 1867 in Canada and was a very professional cartoon artist, who has created famous cartoon like 'The Gertie dinosaur (1914)' and 'Little Nemo: Adventures in Sumberland (1989).

Still attending college McCay started working at the Dime Museum were many unusual forms of art and entertainment was performed and shown like Freak Shows and other forms of entertainment.




At the age of 21 Winsor McCay left school to work for a printing company called the 'National printing company' which is located in Chicago, where he would illustrate posters etc. For many circuses and promotions. A few years later he came very well known as a talented artist at the kohl and Middleton dime museum.

Between 1891 and 1897 Winsor began to start a little family after marrying his first wife. They both has 2 children named Robert and Marion. His wife was called Maude Leonore Dufour.

In 1905, McCay started working on "Little Nemo In Slumberland" which was later released a short time later and was later produced as a Broadway Musical.

Then shortly After making "Little Nemo in Slumberland" Winsor popularity began to increase it which would eventually lead him to a leading role part in 'Speed Drawing".

In his much later years' Mccay went to go to work for William randolph Heast in New York City where he would make one of his most famous cartoon animations "Gertie the Dinosaur", but would still need improving nd Developed in 1914vthe hear it was created.

Finally still continuing to draw additional cartoon animations McCay never stopped pursuing his dream, until his emotional death on July 26, 1934, what was tragically over a stroke.
